A hundred times the pedal for four times the price. It is great in front of a tube amp to give tons of distortion variety, from SRV tube-screaming to Scholz's Rockman to Hendrix Fuzz and Satch sustain. If you don't want to take 15 pedals to a gig, this is a great alternative!I found that at least four of the key sounds from this pedal where foundational. That is, those four sounds will get me a lot of mileage and are not once-in-while special effects. So, for me this is four pedals in the space of two and about the price of two, and that's a bargain. From there, all the extra sounds are the occasional special effects that are the cherries on top. The controls are logical and provide a fair amount of flexibility. In some cases, the controls give you more variations then are available on the corresponding single-size pedal (a juicy benefit). In other cases, like that of the MT-2, the mid-range controls aren't there, so middle boost or scooping is less tweak-able (a minor inconvenience). So, this would be the second improvement I would ask for from BOSS: a middle control (perhaps both level and frequency, please). As for the quality of the tone.If you are a boutique-pedal junkie, then this won't be your main sound, but it might be all those others that you need to fill in the holes.Any minor differences that you perceive - or more likely think you perceive - can be tweaked with your EQ. In those cases you have to tweak things properly and use your brain a bit to get a dead-on reproduction of those pedals - but it is by no means difficult to do and if you understand how to use tone controls properly you can do it in seconds. I don't know why Boss can develop and manufacture sophisticated digital signal processing models such as found in the OD-20, but still can't manage to put a simple, cheap, true bypass circuit in their pedals.http://fscl.ru/content/bosch-hydropower-manual I suspect it's because Boss makes a separate line switching pedal (the LS-2 Line Selector) that they don't want to make semi-obsolete by putting true bypass in their other pedals. For that reason, I don't want to give this thing a full 5 stars but think it deserves better than 4 stars, so I'm rounding up to 5 because there's no 4.5 stars option here. If you play a fair bit with the pedal disengaged and are really picky about your tone, then you'll want to get a line switcher so you can truly bypass the OD-20 when you're not using it. Other than that, this pedal is a stompbox dream - it really does have accurate models of all those pedals in one box. Besides Boss classics like the OD-1 and MT-2, the OD-20 also emulates vintage effects like the Rockman, Fuzzface, Tubescreamer and more. Tenho varios pedais analogicos e as distorcoes do OD-20 nao deixam a dever a ninguem. As a 15 year old playing an MT-2 into a broken stereo, cranking the gain all the way instantly gave me that feeling of playing into a raging, fire-breathing wall of stacks. Which, undeniably, is awesome. But also, when you do that (not just with the MT-2 but with any high gain amp or pedal) you just lose all sense of definition and clarity in your tone. Don’t even go past 12 o’clock if you ask me. There’s SO much gain on tap that you really don’t need all of it on at once. Try the MT-2 with the Distortion sitting around 10 o’clock.http://www.leesii.com/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1626ea9a3d2bcd---bosch-maxx-2062-manual.pdf Get closer to the 12 o’clock mark and you should be rewarded with thick, high-gain goodness, while still retaining a good amount of note definition. Don’t worry, there’s still plenty of juice to help those pinch harmonics fly off the strings. Here’s a really great video which uses the MT-2 to transform a clean AC-30 into a riff monster. You’ll notice that neither the rhythm nor lead tone settings use Distortion over 12 o’clock. Makes sense to try and do the same with your new metal pedal. So why isn’t it a good idea to scoop the mids with your MT-2? There are a couple of reasons, and here’s the short version: Guitar is a mid-focused instrument. That’s where it lives, so if you completely dial the mids out of your tone, it’s no surprise that it disappears. On the record, you can get away with more scooped tones because the engineers can EQ it such that all instruments have their own place in the mix (so the guitars don’t get drowned out). You’ll have a tough time doing that live so it’s best not to cut yourself out of the mix before you’ve even started playing. What exactly does this mean. We don’t want to hack out a huge hole out of the mid frequencies (see previous section) or boost the living daylights out of the highs or lows. Try setting all the EQ controls at 12 o’clock for starters. Adjust the High and Low controls to taste to get a baseline for how you want your tone to sound. Since the EQ controls are so powerful, small changes make a big difference. Then, turn the tables and apply a slight CUT to the Mid setting, eliminating the worst of those pesky frequencies. Don’t forget to note down the settings that work well with your rig. It’s more versatile than you think Despite what it says on the tin, the Metal Zone can do more than just metal. And because of the extremely powerful EQ range, you can totally use it on bass to get a downright nasty (in a great way!) chunking, grinding metal bass tone.https://www.sevgiliyevideo.net/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1626ea9af723e5---bosch-maxx-4-wfc-1262-manual.pdf Experiment with small changes to the EQ to find your sound, and don’t be afraid of dialling the gain down.
